Why I love this craft
Every year, Dollar Tree releases wall calendars in a variety of designs. Even if you don’t buy dollar store calendars, it still feels like a waste to throw the calendars away at the end of the year.
Why not upcycle the calendar page artwork into a fun craft?!
Why shouldn’t I add a top coat of mod podge to calendar paper decoupage?
Trust me when I say don’t do it. I spent roughly two hours on a craft, only to have it be completely messed up, bubbly, warped (and unfixable) all because I added a top coat of mod podge.
There are times when a top coat is necessary, like when I sealed napkins onto wood rounds to make decoupage ornaments with wood rounds and napkins.
There is just something about the texture of calendar page paper, that makes it a bit trickier to work with on Mod Podge crafts. Instead, I use a mini heat press to seal the paper onto a dried coat of mod podge. The heat reactivates the glue and causes the paper to seal. No top coat needed!
