Hi Wendy, you make such beautiful polymer clay earrings, when did you first discover polymer clay crafting?
Thank you so much! My parents have always been crafty. I remember years ago my dad gave me a book on polymer clay art. At that time I was so busy with other things, raising a family and all, that I put it on the shelf. I love books and knew that one day I would revisit it. I guess I just didn’t realize at the time the versatility of polymer clay. Fast forward to a couple of years ago. My daughter started making polymer clay earrings and was blowing up on Instagram. I was working on fine tuning my watercolor painting technique at the time. I was getting a lot of commission work. Then I really started paying attention to what she was doing and it looked SO FUN that I just had to get in on the action! I bought some clay and tools. You know I have to have ALL the tools. I dove right in and immediately got hooked.
What inspires you?
What DOESN’T inspire me??? LOL. I get inspired by nature, texture, color and other makers on Instagram and Pinterest. I save posts on Instagram and Pinterest so that when I’m ready to create something new, I have an easy reference. I always put my own twist on it and am successful most of the time. I have so many ideas but a limited amount of time to see all of my ideas through to completion. I was recently inspired by what other makers were doing with alcohol ink on baked clay and started dabbling and experimenting with it and was stunned with the results!
